I A-D-O-R-E this kind of stuff: old buttons, zipper pieces, charms and pendants made of metal and plastic, ribbon odds and ends, tulle circles which I never used, handles, shoulder straps and decorations recovered from old bags, beads of every kind and shape, color and size. From time to time I enjoy to make use of this kind of materials in doing my creations, sometimes using more, adding and adding again a thing after another (as I did for my steampunk rocker mini bag Edda) sometimes using less for a cleaner, simpler look, under the inspiration of the moment (as for my first two minibags I made with mixed materials, Georgia and Caterpillar). By the way, I’d like to point out that as regards me, who am used to use mainly crochet and knitting yarns, the phrase MIXED MATERIALS is intended to mean the addition of materials which are DIFFERENT from crochet and knitting yarns. AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST! I’ve always been CRAZY about keychains and so I began producing a series of carabiner keychains (my favorites of all! And also the most useful, comfortable and handy) decorated with charms and other little things, both new and vintage/reused, AND miniature pillows made with two mini egle’s chunky squares. I A-D-O-R-E them! Moreover, they’re perfect mates for my large-size bags (as for example the soft briefcases and the XL totes).
A PROJECT FOR THE FUTURE: to create bags and (maybe, also) clothing and accessories reusing and upcycling all these mixed materials and fabric, old clothing and sweaters which are no longer used but still in good condition, that deserve to be snatched from their obscure existence, exiled as they are now over there, on the upper shelves of the wardrobe.

Li A-D-O-R-O: vecchi bottoni, pezzi di cerniera, ciondoli e pendenti vari in metallo e plastica, rimasugli di fettuccia, cerchi in tulle mai utilizzati, maniglie, tracolle e decorazioni recuperate da vecchie borse, perle e perline di ogni forma, colore e dimensione. Ed ecco che di tanto in tanto mi diletto a inserire questo genere di cose nelle mie creazioni, talvolta in maniera decisa, aggiungendo e riaggiungendo una cosa vicina all’altra/sull’altra (come nella mia mini bag steampunk rocker Edda) talvolta invece creando abbinamenti più SOFT, seguendo l’ispirazione del momento (come nelle mie prime due minibag realizzate con materiali misti, Georgia e Caterpillar). A proposito, vorrei precisare che per me che utilizzo principalmente filati per uncinetto e maglia, l’espressione MATERIALI MISTI vuole significare l’aggiunta di materiali che SONO COSE DIVERSE dai filati per uncinetto e maglia. MA NON SOLO! Sono sempre stata una folle MANIACA dei portachiavi e ho quindi iniziato a produrre una serie di portachiavi a moschettone (i miei preferiti in assoluto! E anche i più comodi e pratici in assoluto) decorati con ciondoli e altri piccoli oggetti, sia nuovi che vintage e/o di riuso, E cuscini in miniatura realizzati con due mini piastrelle di egle. Li A-D-O-R-O! Sono tra l’altro un perfetto accompagnamento per le mie borse taglia large (come ad esempio le borse cartella morbide o le tote XL).
PROGETTO PER IL FUTURO: creare borse e (forse, anche) capi di abbigliamento e accessori assemblando questi materiali misti di recupero e le stoffe, i vecchi abiti e i maglioni da tempo dismessi ma ancora in ottimo stato, che meriterebbero di essere strappati alla loro oscura esistenza, esiliati come sono ora lassù, sui ripiani più alti dell’armadio.
